Inspirations in Our Lives
Mike Meadors (Account Executive at WKMG Channel 6):
When we arrived at the event last October, we didn't expect many important people to show up. We were in for a surprise. Our parents introduced us to a man who was going to run the 5K later in the day. His name was Mike Meadors, and he told us he worked for the local Channel 6 as an Account Executive. We thought that he seemed like a nice person to come and run this event. Then Mr. Meadors informed us that he had Cerebral Palsy as well and that he was very touched to see a local event try to help benefit the research and treatment of this disability. It made us so happy to see that someone with Cerebral Palsy had not let their disability slow them down in any way and has become a role model and leader in the community. Since then Mr. Meadors has helped the 5K in more ways than possible, and has instilled a new way for all of us to look forward and do the things we do for only the right reasons. He truly is an inspiration to all.
Jo Ann Lucarelli (Lake Mary Deputy Mayor):
The following is an interview with Mrs. Lucarelli. We would like to thank her so much for all of her support and the time she took to help us make this video. Thanks Mrs. Lucerelli!
Lizzete Perez (PSA Director at 102 Jamz):
We would like to thank Mrs. Lizzete Perez for all of her support throughout the 5K's history. The following article was published by her radio station and talks about World CP Day and the 5K!
Daniel Lopez and Lake Periman became the organizers in 2014 after the founders of the Lake Scary 5K moved away. News 6 and Lake Mary Prep continue to provide support to this cause along with many in our community. Children attending the UCP Seminole Campus continue to be our inspiration.
Lauren Boyd, LMP alumnus, who recently graduated with Honors from the University of Miami, has Cerebral Palsy and continues to run at the Lake Scary 5k in support of our effort.
Daniel Lopez and Lake Periman
Amazing job at raising more than $19,000 dollars for UCP!!! And, they created a new education program for awareness in the community.
Daniel and Lake reaching out in the community raised more than $19,000 this year as well!
